This week I’m delighted to introduce Brita Addams as our guest on BER. She’s here to talk about her new story Romeo Club #1: Surprises which was reviewed here by Tam yesterday. Plus you can also find an extract from the story.
If you leave a comment on the post then you have a chance of winning a choice of one of Brita’s books from her backlist. Good luck and I’ll hand you over to Brita.
Surprises: Romeo Club #1
Romeo’s is ostensibly an upscale dating service for gay men. Donnie is sick of the club scene and slips into the club, fills out the rather detailed application, and in doing so, casts his fate to the wind. Donnie finds the consequences of that decision wrought with surprises.
Romeo Club was an idea I wrestled with after I wrote a two book series, Free Me and In His Arms. I’d never written a contemporary before Free Me, but in writing that book, I discovered how liberating it was to use modern language, pop culture, and humor.
My humor, as much as my children don’t think I possess an ounce of frivolity, isn’t suited for the stiff upper-lipped characters I create in my historicals.
I’ve also never written erotica, for erotica’s sake. All my books are erotic, but Romeo Club is straightforward erotica, meant to titillate. They are a series of shorts, five to six thousand words, easy to digest at lunchtime or just before bed (that actually would be the best time to read them) *wink*.
The Romeo Club series has all the elements I love to read myself. Humor (Blake and Aaron are in most of the stories) and they deal with very real sexual fantasies. Many will explore various aspects of the Dom/sub dynamic, as Blake is a Dom. He’s kind of a man of all seasons.
Romeo Club #2, Rubbed the Right Way treats the reader to an erotic massage. That story comes out in December. I’ve finished A Thief’s Plea, a cop and robber scenario, and submit that one shortly. I envision twelve to fifteen stories over the course of the next year or two. They are fun to write and designed to give the reader a thrill in a quick read. A friend of mine refers to them as “one handed reading.” I’ll let the reader be the judge.
Extract From Surprises: Romeo Club #1
How often do you like to fuck?
Not “have intercourse” or “make love,” but “fuck,” written out right on the application. Damn! I hadn’t expected such personal questions, but after a few moments of thought, “No limit” seemed as good an answer as any.
“What is your favorite position?” Oh, the possibilities.
“Bent over a sofa, chair, table?” All of the above, giving or receiving.
“On all fours on a bed or the floor?” Right you are.
“Standing against the wall?” Definitely has merit.
“Do you suck cock regularly, or do you prefer to be sucked? Do you swallow?” I should have seen that one coming.
“Dildo preference—glass or flexible?” I’d never thought about it, but the question gave me ideas.
“Butt plugs?” Damn, did other people use those things? I squirmed, thinking a smaller one might have been in order for this excursion.
A whole section entitled “Probing Your Fantasies.” “Are you into cowboys, pirates, millionaires, policemen, doctors? Kidnap, rape, ménage? Explain your desires in detail.” I took the expeditious route and wrote, “Yes to all the above.” Why limit my options?
“Are you willing to put yourself in our hands?”
Thanks to Brita for giving us an interesting peek into Surprises: Romeo Club #1. Don’t forget to leave a comment to win!

Hi Brita,
I’ve read ‘Free Me’ and ‘In His Arms’ multiple times already, I just can’t seem to let Phil and Bryan go..
I love that “Free Me” was as liberating for you as it was for Bryan!
I haven’t yet read your historicals (time and a HUGE TBR list) But I can say with out a doubt you write the hell out of contemporary..
I am looking forward to the Romeo Club Series and from what I’ve read of Blake and Aaron I am really thrilled they will be in most of the stories. Please ask Riptide if it would be possible for them to sell blocks of time along with this amazing lineup of upcoming releases.

I love having these sexy little stories that can be read in one day. It enables me to add a bit of variety to my usual reading fair and will definitely perk me up better than coffee. Looking forward to each and every one of the installments.
