Happy Halloween from all of us here at Brief Encounters, to all of our followers/readers/lurkers/commenters, even if you live somewhere that Halloween is not celebrated. In North America it’s VERY popular, and of course comes with Trick or Treating, meaning huge quantities of candy in your house until well after Christmas. Since we can’t send you all candy virtually (wouldn’t it be great if chocolate would pop out of the disc drive?), I wrote a little PG rated Halloween story for you. Just click on the bats up top and it should take you to Scribd where you can download the story or read it on-line. I hope you enjoy it and special thanks to Josephine Myles for helping me out.
Hope you all have a spooky treat-filled day and I’ve posted one of my favourite Halloween songs from my childhood. A classic.
Loved the story, Tam – so cute!
Happy Halloween to you too!
Hi, Tam! Thanks for the story.
Oh, man, Monster Mash is truly a classic, although I like Vincent Price’s version more.
Happy Halloween!
Lovely story! Thanks…
Brilliant story – I’m afraid I snorted out loud with laughter more than once, which was rather embarrassing in the middle of the office
. Thanks for the Halloween Treat!!
It’s not such a big event over here in the UK, but I went to a firework display at the weekend, and I’m on duty to buy some packs of sweets for any children tonight who come Trick & Treating. Or for me, if I just hide in the back room with the lights off and pretend I’m not home *mwahahaha*.
Thanks everyone. I fixed it so it should download now for those who prefer that. I forgot to switch it over last night. Ooops.
When we run out of candy (or are down to stuff we want to keep) we shut out the lights and bring the pumpkin in as well. I just ran into about 45 little tiny ghosties and goblins in our hallway this morning from the daycare in our building. So cute, although I don’t envy those days of going house to house with a little one in the cold (and sometimes rain or snow).
Thank you for the story!
Just saw this article – Americans spend $6.8 billion on Halloween. O.O

What a cute story! I absolutely loved it, Tam. Thanks for putting a big smile on my face today – I needed it!
Fabulous story, Tam. It made me laugh but was also very romantic
. As Clare said Halloween isn’t a big thing here. It also depends where you live. If you live on a housing estate with lots of kids then you get a lot of trick or treaters. I live off a main road and only got one lot last night – and they were people that my son knew. I was quite pleased, actually
.
Very cute! Making a move on Edward Cullen would be disturbing!
We had the entire neighborhood at the house last night. I think I spent half of those billions, because I stocked up too early and the locusts masquerading as teenagers ate everything. Prices were jacked WAY up by the time I discovered the devastation in the pantry.
Really cute and cheeky little story, Tam – it was a pleasure to beta for you!
We had a fair few trick or treaters last night. I think we’d have had more, only we were out doing it ourselves during the main busy time. Yes, it was mine and Daisy’s very first experience of trick or treating! It only took me 34 years…
