Title: A is for Andy – A Hammer Story

Police Officer ‘A’ is at the Hammer Club for an evening of relaxation after a hard week when he runs into veterinarian Andy. Unlike any sub he’s ever met, Andy intrigues A and he happily accepts an invitation to the man’s home. Will A and Andy find something together, or will they just feed the animals and call it a night?
Review:
This little short only takes place over a period of a few hours, so there’s not much opportunity to get to know either character, particularly A as it’s told from his point of view so you mostly get his observations of Andy. A is a cop who is ready to wind down after wrapping up a big case when he sees Andy at the bar. He invites him to share dinner and before long they are heading back to veterinarian Andy’s house for some fun.
You get Andy’s background, how he came to be on the coast and his job and how many pets he has – 16 dogs, well only 3 are really his – and they share a bit about their preferences and then there is a shower sex scene. Although Hammer books are BDSM and they do discuss safe words, this rally doesn’t even fall in the BDSM category as it’s pretty straight forward sex with the implications that there will be more.
It’s difficult to write a review for such a short story that really only covers a few hours. The sex scene is well written and Andy is a bit of a pushy sub and there are some humourous moments as A discovers the extent of the animals Andy keeps on his property, but it’s really only the beginning of their relationship. There is a bit of the stereotypical posessiveness right off the bat, not exactly insta-love but insta-mine if you will, however they are a cute couple and I would have liked to get a better understanding of them as people and their personalities which would have fit in a longer format. Still, if you’re in the mood for some Sean Michael, it’s not a bad choice and you don’t have to have read any of the others in the series to enjoy this one independently.
Have you read everything Sean Michael’s ever written? (Okay, I’ll admit it: I’m just being nosy. And procrastinating.
)
No, not everything … I don’t think. LOL But a lot. Prolific is a word that could be applied to this author.
I’m a sucker for it because you know exactly what you’ll get. Not always a bad thing.
I’ve kind of lost patience with all the sentence fragments.
But you gotta admit, fragments cut back on writing time, which makes it easier to get more stuff out faster.
It also makes for fast reading.
Yes, that’s definitely a “thing”. Sometimes it works, sometimes it’s annoying.
